Outfit of the Day: Ladylike

Outfit Details:
Blouse: Kohl's
Jeans: American Eagle
Shoes: Jessica Simpson- Macy's
Handbag: Kelly and Katie- DSW
Bangles: Forever21
Rings: ASOS and Bought Locally

The blouse shown here I bought a little while ago at Kohl's and I bought it on clearance at only $15! What a steal. I picked up these shoes and handbag while I was in San Francisco. The shoe department at Macy's blew me away in SF. There was a whole floor dedicated to women's shoes, needless to say I was in heaven! Our Macy's shoe department is so small so I was amazed by the selection. I had such a hard time just picking out one pair. I love Jessica Simpson's shoes and I am very happy with my purchase. They are so comfortable and easy to walk in.
We don't have a DSW where I live and I prefer instore than the online store. I have been trying to find a ladylike satchel like this one. They had one in black but I don't have a purse in this color. It is so roomy and very sturdy. Love it!
I had such an amazing time shopping in San Francisco. Growing up in a rural area I am accustomed to strip malls and small little stores. Also where I live now we don't have much shopping options (though much more than where I did live)! I was blown away with all the stores and options. I could spend days shopping there at the Union Square. It has definitely got to be my favorite shopping center so far, except Mall of America where I have been to several times (when I was young however).

What is your favorite shopping center to shop at?

Its quilling look book time again - - Wild Purple Flowers were my inspiration and I tried to do some justice to my inspiration ... Have a look I do hope you like it....

Beautiful iris flower,
Some petals folded down,
Instead,
Many are upright, however,
Making a pretty crown
Indeed!

Tantalising architecture,
Fragrence in profound,
Appealed!

Nectar lover pollinators,
Straying all around,
Hurried!

Maybelline New York's Beauty Editors Meet

As a part of Maybelline's Secret group and a Blogger - I was invited to the Maybelline New York Beauty Editor's Meet on 23rd September at Olive Bar and Kitchen. The meet was basically a fun makeup party event which was attended by editors of various fashion magazines, few members of Beauty Brigade, their PR managers and the Maybelline staff.

Tempting Fruit Shots !

Before the event, I was formally introduced to the work forces behind the Brand "Maybelline" - The PR Head was very warm and accommodating who introduced me to MNY Brand Manager - Manshi who is a very peppy ,friendly and frank female. She introduced us to her other colleagues. I even got a chance to interact with Jenny Chor and Swapna Nair - the representatives of MNY who are part of the members in Beauty Brigade Group. We really had a fun time catching up.

The event started with the history of Brand Maybelline and how vaseline and coal was mixed to give a mascara by T L Williams for her sister Maybel. The names Maybel and Vaseline were joined to give rise to the name of the brand "Maybelline" which was first to invent the cake mascara.

This was followed by the a short discussion on their Market survey which was conducted by MNY where they studied the trends in Indian Makeup market.. They learnt how the makeup trends are evolving amongst the young generations and how the Indian market has evolved from using just fairness cream and talc to using more of foundation, concealer and kohl etc.

This is how they introduced Colossal Kajal into the Indian Markets in a sleek twist up pencil like packaging inspired by NYC Cabs in Yellow and Black Color Scheme. The product is a huge success which motivated them to launch other products like the new Colorsensational Fruit Jellies and The lipstick in disguise - Color changing lip Balm Color Bloom in pink and peach shades. These products have been specially designed to cater to the young generation of Indian markets.

The event was then followed by two announcements - MNY has an Official Makeup Artist - Namrata Soni. They also launched a new range of products designed by Namrata herself - which is Plumtastic 2011 collection which includes colors ranging from deep wines to berries to plums. Esha Gupta was introduced as their new Brand Ambassador and this was followed by Namrata creating an evening look using the Plumtastic collection products on her.

This concluded the event which was followed by many fun things to do around and a chance to interact with Namrata Soni. I had a chance to interact with her and she was definitely a fun person to be with - smart, frank and friendly. After she solved some of my makeup queries, she was kind enough to give me details to keep in touch with her if I have queries in future.

After the interaction, I had a fun time with Jenny, Swapna, Sonal and Bhumika S - The BB Gang. I hung around till the end where we all interacted with the Brand Manager and Namrata Soni. I also had nail art done. Also I had a chance to meet a fellow blogger -Bhumika

All in All the event was A Blast - loads of fun !!!!  Yups I got a few MNY Goodies too in the end .....I do hope you enjoy the pics....

OH ! I got nail art done at the party !!!

Fashion Around the World Series: Nepal and Bhutan

Nepal

Hindu is one of the prominent religions in Nepal. The colors, detailing and jewelry is amazing here!

Traditional wedding in Nepal

Bhutan

King of Bhutan: Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck and his Fiancee Jetsun Pema. She is commoner too. Another Royal wedding with a prince marrying a commoner this year! Isn't she absolutely gorgeous?

Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck being crowned King. The colors are amazing here! So bright and vivid.

This week's fashion around the world series is on Nepal and Bhutan. Nepal takes a lot of inspiration from India. Bhutan is unique with their colorful clothing and intricate detailing. Take inspiration from these cultures and wear more color, pattern and don't be afraid to pile on the jewels. If done right! ;)

I hope you have been enjoying my fashion around the world series. It is my intention to bring you inspiration and to learn what other cultures view as fashionable. This should wrap of all of Asia and I have yet to decide if I am going to start covering countries in the Middle East or start in Europe. Let me know where you would like me to start next!

What do you think of the fashion in Nepal and Bhutan?

Always,

Love Thy Brushes !!!

Hi everyone ...

Me back with another post ... This time I decided to share how I clean my makeup brushes... Its no rocket science .... But I decided to do a post about it - WELL JUST FOR THE HECK OF IT  . . . !!!

Everyone uses their own cleaning procedures and technique.... I try new techniques myself ... Dis time I tried the Michelle Phan Method ... hehehehehe... with a little twist of mine. . .   :)

So I start out with - Any Kind of Baby Oil, Any Shampoo (I use Dove) and lastly, Conditioner.

Then I take a plate and pour Baby oil onto the plate and Shampoo... like so...

Swirl your brush onto the mixture - The shampoo and oil help in removing pigments and makeup. The oil helps in removing traces of makeup as well as conditions your brushes bristles....

I squeezed off the mixture of shampoo and oil -- See how the mixture is removing all the old makeup?

Lastly I clean the brushes under running tap water and further condition the bristles of my brushes by swirling them in a mixture of water and Conditioner (1:1). Wash off the conditioner and you will notice how extra soft your brushes have become. . .

Lastly wipe the brushes dry ... blot out excess water and dry your brushes by tilting them downwards on a towel..  Keep them slanting on the towel so as to allow the water to seep out of the bristles....Leave it overnight ...

The next morning - Your brushes will be GOOD AS NEW !!!!

So tell me - How do you clean your makeup brushes ????
